SUS-MIRRI.IT – Strengthening the MIRRI Italian Research Infrastructure for Sustainable Bioscience and Bioeconomy

SUS-MIRRI.IT aims at strengthening the research infrastructure MIRRI.IT, the Italian network of microbial culture collections, through the increase of the bioresources stored in the various collections, enhancing their characterization and optimizing their management, thus unlocking their genomic, metabolic and economic potential.
The project is coordinated by the University of Turin and involves 15 Institutions with 24 Operating Units, which host collections of different microbial resources, including bacteria, filamentous fungi, yeasts, microalgae and virus, which can be exploited in the health, agro-food and environmental areas.
Microbiological laboratories of the MIRRI.IT network will be equipped with cutting-edge technologies. The overall organization of MIRRI.IT will be implemented and the operative procedures will be set up to meet the international quality standards. Moreover, a dedicated platform will function as single-entry point to promote resources, services, technologies, expertise and knowledge-transfer activities.
IPSP-CNR will strengthen the Italian plant virus collection PLAVIT, acquiring new instruments and new dedicated personnel and enhancing characterization, storage and management of bioresources
SUS-MIRRI.IT is supported by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), Mission 4, Component 2, Investment 3.1, in the frame of the EU Commission Program NextGenerationEU.
